Well, yes and no. Mindful meditation is a way of practicing being mindful. But once you practice it for awhile, you discover that mindful practice starts to change the way you experience your daily life. It's a way of becoming more alive and present in your activities, work and relationships. It also opens up the possibility of seeing and listening to the needs of others and to your own needs in a more compassionate and caring way without being emotionally overwhelmed or overly attached -- which are often concerns that medical and mental health professionals have in their work. For those professionals, mindful practice is a workable alternative to being emotionally guarded and distant with patients who are often looking for a more personal level of support.
