Caring for the Heart:
Renewing Your Clinical Practice
in a Time of Change

- a Circle of Trust® retreat

At this time of massive change in our health care system, this is a day to rediscover why you’ve chosen a profession that involves caring for others.

This one-day retreat for health care professionals will explore the heart of the work we do.  What are the touchstones that make our work meaningful?  What practices can we develop to be wholehearted in our profession and bring who we are into our work?

Caring for the Heart: Renewing Your Clinical Practice in a Time of Change will follow the guidelines from the Center for Courage & Renewal for creating a safe, respectful Circle of Trust® where you can:
  • Explore key stepping stones (milestones, events, choices) that led you into your profession.
  • Learn to hold the tensions between your work and the health care system without being overwhelmed by them.
  • Reconnect with your integrity and values around your work.
  • Develop practices that renew your heart, mind, and spirit.

The retreat will include group interaction, opportunities to share stories, periods of silence, poetry, music, and time for journaling and individual reflection. During the retreat, we will create a trustworthy, confidential space and follow guidelines that respect each other’s experience.

Feedback from Dr. Bellg’s Mindful Care retreats

I heard great ideas from you and the group re daily practices and things I can do for myself, my colleagues, and patients… I can’t wait to do it here at work.  I so appreciated how you conducted the retreat – your passion for what you do is so evident.  Thank you! -  KT, MD

I enjoyed the use of the arts, poetry, in particular, to get at the corners and crevices of psyche in a tender and thoughtful way…  The mechanics of the retreat could not be improved upon at all, in my opinion…  I think this retreat should be made more available to all providers of care. -  MM, NP
